Biggleswade Karate Club understands the importance of instilling discipline and focus in children from a young age. The kids' classes are designed to be engaging, educational, and, most importantly, fun. Through a series of age-appropriate exercises and games, children not only learn the physical aspects of karate but also develop essential life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect for others.

The instructors at Biggleswade Karate Club take a holistic approach to teaching Shotokan Karate to kids, ensuring that the training not only contributes to their physical well-being but also nurtures their mental and emotional growth. Parents appreciate the positive impact karate has on their children's confidence, concentration, and overall character development.

Shotokan Karate as we now it today, has been practiced for over 50 years in the UK, for nearly 100 years in Japan. Master Gichin Funakoshi brought his style of karate to Japan in the early part of the 20th Century. The Japanese were amazed and took this martial art style from Okinawa, as their own.
Master Gichin Funakoshi, along with his son Gigo Funakoshi, developed the already present Okinawan fighting system known as Okinawa-te (Okinawa hand), into what we know today, as Shotokan Karate. Japan also played a major role in the early development of shotokan karate.
Shotokan Karate techniques focus around body allignment and the correct application of body dynamics. Some of the many physical benefits associated with shotokan karate are~

Fitness
Flexibility
Self Defence
Balance
Speed
Power
Strength
Coordination
Relaxation

Some of the not so common, non physical benefits are~

Confidence
Discipline
